1. Nature of Services
I am a licensed professional counselor providing couples and relationship therapy using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). These services are not a substitute for medical care, psychiatric treatment, or emergency services. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or suicidal thoughts, please contact emergency services immediately.
2. Scope of Practice
I specialize in couples and relationship therapy. I am licensed to practice in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. If you require specialized services outside my scope of practice, I will refer you to an appropriate professional.
3. Client Participation
For couples therapy to be effective, both partners should participate in sessions. I reserve the right to recommend individual therapy, additional resources, or a referral to another professional if I determine that my services are not appropriate for your situation.
4. Session Scheduling & Cancellation
Scheduling: Sessions are typically scheduled on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. I will work with you to find mutually agreeable times.
Cancellation Policy: If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please provide at least 24 hours notice. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice may be subject to a cancellation fee equal to the full session cost.
5. Payment Terms
Payment Timing: Payment is due at the end of each session, unless you are using insurance or other payment arrangements have been made.
Accepted Methods: I accept credit card, debit card, check, and electronic transfer.
Insurance: If you use insurance, I will submit claims on your behalf. You are responsible for any copays, coinsurance, or deductibles as outlined by your insurance plan.
Late Payment: If payment is not received within 30 days, I may suspend services and refer the account for collection.
6. Confidentiality
Information shared in therapy is protected by law and professional ethics. However, there are limits to confidentiality as described in my Privacy Policy, including situations where I am required by law to disclose information.
7. Professional Boundaries
The therapeutic relationship is professional. I maintain appropriate boundaries with all clients. Romantic or sexual relationships with clients are prohibited and would constitute a violation of professional ethics.
8. Termination of Services
Either you or I may terminate therapy at any time. I will provide referrals to other professionals and will not abandon you if it is not safe to do so.
9. Records Access
You have the right to request access to your clinical records. I will provide copies within a reasonable timeframe. Requests for records must be made in writing.
10. Liability & Dispute Resolution
Therapy is not a guarantee of specific outcomes. I cannot be responsible for outcomes outside my control. If you have a complaint about my services, I encourage you to discuss this with me directly. If the concern cannot be resolved, you may file a complaint with your state licensing board.
11. Emergency Services
If you are in crisis or experiencing thoughts of self-harm or harming others, please contact emergency services (911), the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (988), or go to your nearest emergency room. I am available for scheduled therapy appointments only and cannot provide 24-hour crisis services.

13. Changes to Terms
I may update these Terms of Service periodically. Changes will be posted on this page, and continued use of my services indicates acceptance of updated terms.

By scheduling a session or engaging in therapy with me, you agree to these Terms of Service and my Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not engage in therapy services.
